I love Viola's we go there all the time when we are in New Buffalo for the weekend.. The staff is great, never had a problem with them being slow. Christine the owner is great her husband is the chef and he is just as friendly. I disagree with the person who said Baileys is better. Bailey's is terrible oh by the way they must not have been really good they are CLOSED!

This is a decent breakfast and lunch place. My meals there have been good if not remarkable. They do have good biscuits and gravy. Service can be slow if they are crowded. And on Sunday (which would normally be a big day in a tourist-heavy area such as this), they close at 1:00 p.m. - I would think they would take advantage of the available lunch business. All in all, not a bad place, but Bailey's down the street is better.

Great place for breakfast. We went on s Sunday morning and had a bit of a wait - well worth it! Unfortunately they had run out of biscuits and gravy which was what I was looking forward to but went with eggs Benedict and was not disappointed. If we are in the area again this will be our goto breakfast place.

Not sure what's going on with brunch places in Harbor Country, but here's another "meh" review. I'm really all about supporting local business but I think Viola's suffers in the summer on Sundays because of the influx of out of town visitors going to basically the only spot in town that serves sunday brunch. We got there at 1030am, wait was "4 parties" but no time given. We actually waited only 30 mins so we thought, man this place must churn out food FAST. not quite. We had 2 small children so seated next to their wooden play house which was great for the kids... and glad we had it because it took 45 minutes from ordering to getting food. And we had to ask what was going on with the food... not even a courtesy, "sorry about the food taking so long, want a muffin while you wait?" After food was received, the biscuits and gravy everyone raves about.. not remotely close to good. The gravy probably was passable (it's thick) but the biscuit tasted stale. An "ideal" biscuit would be crunchy on the outside and super soft in the middle, this was not that at all. I wonder if my biscuits were waiting for the rest of our tables order to be ready so they got soggy, shame shame. And I waited 45 mins for them! The OJ was not fresh squeeze, which makes me feel that perhaps a lot of their food is easy pre made stuff. The coffee machine behind the counter is the same one that my hospital cafeteria serves coffee from, so not even fresh brewed? Even if thats the case, they did it take my food so long to come out. Again, if you can't handle the business, don't seat the customers. Tell people their wait will be an hour, but stand behind the fact that if I wait that hour, it's gonna be worth it.

Great place! Awesome coffee and baked goods - esp. their bran muffins. Great service. Owners Mike and Chrissie are good people. Everything on the menu is very good.

I can't think of a single bad thing to say about Viola Cafe, with its down-home, stick to your ribs food and the 'jumped from the Andy Griffith show' vibe where it seems like everyone is a local-even out of towners like me. The breakfast special they had was biscuits and gravy and it was under 10 bucks. Additionally there was the enticing option of half and half. Hash browns and a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. Did I mention that a 1/2 order means two biscuits? That means if I decided to just get a large order that would either mean 4 biscuits or they just give you an order of hash browns in addition to the larger order at no additional charge. I could have used a little more sausage flavor-but nothing an extra order of sausage or bacon can't cure. They also sell pancake-that's right if you just want *A* pancake to go along with whatever feast you choose in the morning for under 10 bucks. I love a good, hearty breakfast and I love small town places but I love it more when those two are combined with me dropping a 10 spot including a decent tip.

Great place. Gets busy in the summer with the Chicago crowd so be patient and leave the attitude at home. Be assured they are doing the best they can which 9 out of 10 times provides excellent results. Will bend over backwards to make it right for you. Owners are working right there trying to make your dining right. Love the food.

Have been there many times. Sunday's they are only open for breakfast. If you arrive at 11:30 AM ask for lunch.......IT WILL NOT HAPPEN.

Stopped in Wednesday for a late lunch - had the special - chicken & biscuits. OH! My Gravy! It was delectable! The biscuits are light and fluffy, covered in thick buttery velvety smooth gravy with nice pieces of tender chicken...and peas, of course! It's very filling and you get a heaping plate full, they offer a 1/2 order. The desserts looked scrumptious, but we were stuffed! We want to go back to try more dishes! It's a cute storefront, very simply decorated, comfy chairs - charming place in a charming small town!! Excellent service.

Not sure what was going on at this place. I stopped by to see if I could get a coffee to go. I stood behind one lady paying her bill, another lady picking up something to go, my turn came and it was like I wasn't there. The first women who was at the register walked away, a second waitress looked right at me and helped the guy that came in after me and some guy behind the counter felt that opening the front door was more important than even saying hi to me.

It's a great and quaint place for lunch and brunch. The brunch menu is great and the lunch sandwiches as perfect!

Regular American food. Love to listen to the locals here on weekday mornings. A consistant breakfast place. Nothing fancy.

Viola is a nice place, there is a small but good outdoor eating area, the food is good, space is clean and service friendly. It's worth trying if in the Three Oaks area.

Best omelet on the planet but although we've been going there for years my husband and I both said today that we are starting to dislike the place. Whenever they get busy they seem to get very scattered and don't focus on getting folks seated as quickly as possible and with as much courtesy as they should. Very disappointed in your customer service as of late!!

If you are looking for a cheap breakfast and are not too particular about your coffee, then this place is for you. We prefer to go down the street to Elm Street Bistro where they serve great coffee and some of the best breakfast potatoes in Berrien County, but come to Viola once in a blue moon. At Viola, the service is good and the food is fine for the price you are paying.

I've always had good service at Viola's, and it might be because I'm a local and always there with other locals so we get taken care of well. That aside, I love breakfast here, it's so charming and quiet compared to New Buffalo which can get so congested and annoying. Always have food food!!

Went for first and last time today for Sunday breakfast. Got the oatmeal and it was obviously created when I ordered it from little instant packets, yuck. The blueberry pancakes were good but they put the blueberries in the pancake. The fruit was nice and I like it in the pancake but if you wanted something for the top of your pancake, maple syrup is your only option - need more fruit compote or a fruit syrup. Just very average and less. Looked like maybe lunch is a better option.

Rudest owner I have ever encountered in ANY restaurant or business!!!!! We were greeted rudely when our party first arrived and then asked when we had had barely finished our breakfast, how much longer we would be there. She had another party that she wanted to seat. The food was OK, but save your time and go somewhere beside this place!! For me I'm telling everyone I know.......

Great little spot in Three Oaks with menu items that would come straight out of your mother's kitchen. I had a taste of the Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese (of course) and a bowl of the Chili which were all spot on. A tablemate had the steak frites which was great but the frites were even better. Great place to have lunch or even have a cup of coffee. The baked goods looked on par but I didn't not sample.

Visited again with 5 of my friends who had never been. We all left happy & full! One girl from KY flipped over her biscuits and gravy. She vouched they were authentic and just as good as her mother's! Omelettes were ordered & loved by a couple of gals, as was a fresh from oven blueberry muffin & Belgium waffles. My friends asked me how I found this gem! Go there & get a great tasting breakfast at a great price!

Easy recommendation. Solid breakfast, but the unique item was the swedish pancake. Very well done. Good for kids.

Good food but service is definitely lacking. It is difficult to get coffee or water refills and the food takes a really long time to come out even with a moderate number of customers.

My family and I love Viola's cafe. The food is always good and the servers are always pleasant. It can be a little slow during the summer, but that is to be expected. It is not the place we go for a quick breakfast, rather it is where we go to relax. The food is wonderful, and it is one of the few placed in Three Oaks that doesn't have Chicago prices.

Simple food in a quaint little place. There's nothing mindblowing, just good food. I've been here a few times for both lunch and breakfast. Lunch was a BLT with avocado (yum) and broccoli salad with cranberries (also yum). Breakfast was my standard favorite - pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. All were cooked perfectly and the coffee was good, too. I had breakfast outside once, since I had my dog with me, and it was really enjoyable. Three Oaks is a cute little town and every person who went by stopped to pet my dog. Anyway, I got okay service, but I was the only person sitting outside that morning. Inside, it was packed, which is pretty standard on Saturday mornings. Prices are fair. It's a much better experience than an Ihop, that's for sure.

Violas is the most dependable restaurant in the area of Sawyer, New Buffalo and Three Oaks. The prices are reasonable and food is consistent, never bad, always good. Service can be slow, but not that slow, and occasionally choppy when it comes to refills of coffee and such but these are very minor annoyances if compared to the high prices and often bad food at other dining establishments in the area. Being in Three Oaks, there is a country ambiance present which is comfortable and relaxing. Great place for breakfast and lunch.

Wednesday morning for breakfast, about 8:15 am, two other tables had customers, now me and my wife sat down, place looked clean and nice. Wait staff (1) had to wipe off the table that we were seated at while we watched her do it..with 2 other tables with people in the place we thought the table should have been already wiped off before customers sat there. Got table wear and menus quickly and coffee too. OK so far. Ordered food. Wife's "scramble" had mostly potatoes and the two required eggs...but maybe less then 5% of the total was ham and green peppers. Hey green peppers are in season right now! I ordered sausage patties-got links, ordered potatoes- got none! Had to get wait person's attention to tell her...where's the potatoes??? I did not want to "over burden" the wait staff with 'I ordered patties-but you gave me links' banter, so I ate the greasy links. Got the boring/bland potatoes, but she came back to the table only to ask if we wanted more coffee, not one word about the food. Bread was good-coffee OK. Will we go there again????? That's the question, isn't it!! Tell you what...we were not 'thrilled' nor 'impressed' with the food or the service. We might try it again for biscuits and gravy..which they only serve on Friday-Sat.-Sundays. If we do...you'll get to read the review of that visit here on Yelp.

This is a great place for breakfast, and probably lunch, in the SW Michigan, Union Pier, Three Oaks, Sawyer "triangle." The restaurant is in a classic small town storefront, is very inviting and clean. The room is painted all white including the tin ceiling. There are probably 10-12 tables, and the place was almost full on a Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. The breakfast menu has a good variety of standard breakfast choices but does include their own "country scramble" where everything including the meat and potatoes are tossed around with the scrambled eggs. Since I prefer to let my stomach do the mixing, I stuck with the standard two eggs scrambled, hash browns, toast and a generous slice of ham (from the bone, I might add). The big surprise was how delicious the rye toast was. Flavorful, thick and meaty in texture. I found out it's from a bakery called LaBriola in Chicago. That set me back about $5.00 bucks and was well worth it. This is a fun place to have a leisurely country breakfast, hob-nob with the locals, and check out some of the unique shops on the Main drag there in Three Oaks. If you like unique art and design, you won't be dissapointed. And Viola Cafe is worth the drive even if you're not in Three Oaks. We saw some really beautiful countryside between there and Sawyer as we were lost trying to find it.

The Viola Cafe is my favorite place for breakfast or lunch in Three Oaks. A couple of years ago my wife and I bought a second home in Three Oaks. While in the process of moving in, my 12 year old son and I stopped in to The Viola for a meal and were both impressed by the friendliness of our server, Sarah. The next time we came in, Sarah remembered my name and my beverage of choice, which, while a small thing, made me feel good. Chris, the owner, and her husband, the chef, are successful at offerring tasty, homey food in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food at The Viola is consistantly high quality...the biscuits are so light that I suspect they would float away without the perfectly seasoned sausage gravy. The eggs benedict is my favorite thing on the breakfast menu...the hollandaisse is always perfect. Burgers are delicious...I especially like the patty melt. Salads are fresh and bountiful. But you will want to leave room for dessert,! Absolutely amazing! (I had this caramel/chocolate pie thing in a nut crust that I have actually dreamed about!) Three Oaks is a wonderful place and The Viola Cafe is one of the things that makes it so special.
